Morning Poem

Sunlight creeps through the door like a demon’s grin
The still of the dawn captures me into a semipermanent gaze
Lush green fields are trapped in a layer of frost
A crisp morning in the city, covered in a coating of silence
The wind rolls over top of my house like a cartwheel

Growls escaping from my stomach as the rosy sunshine appears outside my window
My frostbitten nose moves towards the heat
The steam from my latte splashes on my face, opening my pores ever so slightly
Bitter coffee fills my mouth as a sip the black & milky substance
The day has only just begun.
